Three months may seem a long time, but it’s like a mere blink of an eye when you have a Quarterly Magazine to put together, as we can now testify.  We were flattered, and not a little over-whelmed by the response to our preview ‘Issue 0’ in August of this year.  Your warm reception to Conquista Magazine left an immensely rewarding feeling, and we thank all of you that offered your kind comments.  Once the warm fuzzy glow began to wear off, the realisation dawned upon us that we do actually need to go and do it all again and again….

It was not exactly a lifetime of torment and pent-up angst that culminated in the birth of our little literary project.  Nor a burning desire to be heard and splurge it out all over the world like some kind of pouting Indie band with bad hair and an unhealthy share of anti-establishment rhetoric.  All we really set-out to do was share some really cool images of bike racing, and provide a platform where like-minded individuals can indulge themselves in thoughtful and engaging conversation on the issues of the day.

Fortunately, the well at which we drink – the world of professional cycling, is a rich vein to tap into.  It delivers a steady supply of content to stimulate conversation and debate.  And our talented photographers have such a fantastic pool of amazing imagery which they continue to add too seemingly at will.  Our greatest challenge for Issue One was in deciding what to leave out.

We’ve worked hard to maintain the standards we set in our Prologue Issue.  Some stuff that didn’t quite make it to Issue One can be found on our blog, so please keep an eye out at:  conquista.cc/blog for more great contributions.  And to complement our FREE digital issue we make available for the first time a printed hardcopy, which can be purchased from: conquista.cc/shop.  It’s an ‘Old School’ print run limited to just 1,000 copies, thoughtfully delivered for those of you that prefer the indulgence and the retro feel of actual paper.

Thank you to all of our contributors.  Conquista would be nothing without you.

Thanks for reading.

Regards

Benjamin and Trevor
