Stage 12: Lannemezan > Plateau de Beille #AllezVossi

TOO. MANY. CLIMBS.

The 195 km Queen stage of this year’s Tour didn’t fail to deliver in terms of drama and excitement.  We began this morning with intense +35C heat and blazing sunshine, but ended amongst pouring rain as the summit of the final climb was peppered with hailstones, thunder and lightening.

The final day in the Pyrenees would challenge the riders over four categorised climbs, culminating in the legendary mountain top finish of the Plateau de Beille ski station.  Vossi’s teammate Jan Barta put his Time Trial skills to good use as he powered up the mountain to finish 6th on the stage just 05’47 down on the winner.

But tonight it’s dinner for one.  Sadly BORA – ARGON 18 lost Zak Dempster early on the stage with a severely infected saddle sore making it impossible to continue. Vossi is eating alone because the rest of the depleted team are getting on-going maintenance from the masseurs.  The Pyrenees have been brutal, and Vossi is happy they are now done with for this Tour.

Tomorrow is a transition stage, but it’s far from flat.  Lets hope one of the boys can get into the break of the day.
