Third up in our series of featured playlists with Team Velocio-SRAM is former U23 USA Time Trial Champion Tayler Wiles,

BIO

Like her team-mate Trixi, Tayler initially had a desire to play football. But after finding her way to cycling, she never looked back and is now hooked on the sport. As one of the most promising American riders Tayler is incredibly focused and motivated.

Tayler will move into her third season with the team and each year has developed further and further. Her focus was rewarded in 2014 with her best results to date where she started with a bang by winning Redlands Cycling Classic, and continued by landing her biggest career win, standing on the top step at UCI 1.1 Chrono Gatineau, Canada.

Although growing up in Murray, Utah, Tayler now lives in Fairfax, California. The twenty-five year old has her sights set firmly on Rio Olympics in 2016, and you can be sure to see Tayler, one of the most driven team members, out to impress again next season.

TAYLER’S SONG CHOICES

Brandi Carlile: Wherever is your heart – with all the time I spend away from home and away from the people I love, this song reminds me that the distance isn’t defining.

Brandi Carlile: Blood muscle skin and bone – I like to dance alone to this song like a crazy person and pretend to play the cowbell, haha!

Citizen Cope: Bullet and a target – I just love all the messages in his music.

Coldplay: Sky full of stars – I used to listen to the Coldplay album Viva la Vida over and over on rides when I got my first bike.  Ever since then Coldplay will always remind me of that feeling of finding something I loved and how freeing those first few rides felt!

Dave Matthews Band: American baby – I’ve just always loved this song, I guess because I’m American…baby! 😉

Indigo Girls: Galileo & Kid Fears – This song reminds me of going skiing with my Dad when I was younger.

Florence + the Machine:  Ship to Wreck; Queen of Peace; Third Eye; & Make Up Your Mind – scratch that, I should just say this entire album (How big how blue how beautiful) because it is absolutely incredible…great album to belt out on the car or shower 😉

Frightened Rabbit: Things – this song reminds me of a time in my life where I had to let go.

Mumford and Sons: Snake Eyes – this is a great little hidden gem on the new Mumford and Sons Album.  Starts out sounding like a slow battle and then it picks up and you can’t help but sing along.

Tegan and Sara: Closer – this is just a fun song to dance to.

Stage 20: Modane Valfréjus > Alpe d’Huez #AllezVossi

ALPDHUEZ. HAPPY. ICECREAM.

The Bora Boys look happy enough tonight.  Very pleased that the mountains are finally behind them.  Tomorrow they will roll in to Paris for the finale a little disappointed that they could not do more in the race.  However, we salute you – to complete the Tour de France is a major achievement itself.

Alp d’Huez is an amazing mountain to race up, and its great experience to be so close to the fans – but it’s a tough mountain too.  Tonight Vossi needs icecream.  So anyone in the team hotel?  Please take him some – he’s too tired to get off the bed right now.

Stage 19: Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne > La Toussuire – Les Sybelles #AllezVossi

30KM. TOUGH. NEARLY….

“Take this Glandon” was the message that just popped up on my phone from Vossi.  Followed by “I’m happy the Glandon has only 3 sides, otherwise we still be climbing it tomorrow”.

With only 30 KM of climbing left in the Tour, the guys are sensing they are very nearly home.  The climbing of these last days has been tough, but the end is in sight.  Today Vossi felt stronger and was towards the front of the race rather than the Gruppetto.

We managed to see him coming over the summit of the Glandon – however we got a little over excited and the planned photo didn’t quite come out as intended….

Tomorrow we will be on Alp d’Huez to cheer Vossi up the last mountain – come and say hello if you see us.

Stage 18 Shots from Col du Glandon

A short gallery of photos from today’s stage.  We were located at the foot of the Col du Glandon climb, after the town of Allemond.  Although the road had barely kicked-up we found the race was really stretched out already, with a significant number of riders in the Gruppetto.  Not the greatest gallery in the world – but some impressions of the race, with many small groups of riders already isolated, with still 20 km of climbing to complete on the Glandon and 50 km of the race to go.

Stage 18: Gap > Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne #AllezVossi

GRUPPETTO. FANS. MOUNTAINS.

A day in the Gruppetto for Mr Voss today- and nice to see him on the lower slopes of the Col du Glandon.  I can’t repeat exactly what he said about the Glandon -, however you can imagine – it’s a 21 km climb and it was +30C all day.  He was thankful at least that the experienced ‘drivers’ of the ‘autobus’ know very well what pace to go at to ensure everyone arrives home in good time.

Apart from the mountains the other thing about today was the huge number of fans and Vossi wants to say thanks especially to all the German fans he saw on the road today.  Tomorrow we expect more of the same – and we will move the Vossi Fan Club towards the Croix de Fer to cheer him onwards.

Rest Day: Gap

RELAX. SLEEPING. EATING.

SSSShhhhhhh! Vossi is sleeping.

The calm before the final storm – the second rest day of the 2015 Tour de France in Gap.  In these next days the road goes up, up, up.  Despite Vossi’s room having no air-con, its actually bareable in there now, and he described this as his favourite position today!

Tomorrow it’s back to working on those bike rider tan lines – and no sleep ’till Paris.

Stage 14: Rodez > Mende #AllezVossi

ATTACKING. MISSING. AGAIN.

Another transition stage today as the race moves from the Pyrenees towards the Alps, and a day when the GC teams seemed content to let the break go.  Vossi tried again to get in the winning move, but after many attacks he unluckily missed the move of the day.

But hope remains for more attacks tomorrow – his legs are good, and after a night in this Grand Hotel – anything is possible!

Stage 13: Muret > Rodez #AllezVossi

COOKED. COOKED. COOKED.

Oh dear, poor Vossi.  Paul is not a fan of the extreme heat, so another 200 KM and an uphill finish in +35C and blazing sunshine was far from ideal.  The only positive Vossi is taking from today is the post-race Haribo! When he joined BORA – ARGON 18 Vossi was hoping to get involved in some nice cooking – rather than getting cooked himself.

Riders began the day with ice packs under the jerseys to try and keep their core temperature as low as possible for as long as possible.  Tonight we are calling on Vossi’s fans to make a Rain Dance – so there is cooler weather tomorrow, which again is far from flat despite being a transition stage.
